Isabella's Review: ***** out of five

Harry has a miserable life living with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Dursley. They have a spoiled brat, Dudley. Harry refers to him as “a pig in a wig.” He gets a letter inviting him to attend Hogwarts, a school for wizards. This book is funny, has lots of adventure, and scary parts. This book is superb. I could read this book 20 times and not get bored!

Cecilia's Review: ***** out of five

Warning: If you have any problems with the "witchcraft beliefs" in this book, then stop reading right now, because we LOVE HARRY POTTER AND WORSHIP J.K. ROWLING! (I'm exaggerating a little.) J.K. Rowling does a great job of creating a whole different world and making fabulous characters. (For all of you that have read these books, Moaning Myrtle is my favorite.) Harry, who has been down on his luck for all of his life, suddenly is accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He then finds out that he is famous for defeating Volde... um, I mean, he-who-must-not-be-named, as an infant. This story of his life as a wizard will enchant readers of nearly all ages: not recommended for those younger than eight due to scary situations and advanced vocabulary.

Gabriella's Review: ***** out of five

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is certainly the most hyped-up book I've seen in my lifetime. I was never really interested in reading it- I thought the hype was just hype- but I finally did, and I was instantly hooked. I am now what most people would call a Harry Potter junkie. I've dressed up like Hermione Granger and am counting down the days until the movie is released! (scary, huh?) This book is great because of the wonderful characters, exciting plot, and excellent writing style. Although there has been controversy over "witchcraft" in the books, if you read them you will see how silly these claims are: anyone who makes them has trouble separating fact from fiction. Rowling has an amazing gift with words. This book pulls you in until the last page. I would recommend it to anyone over 8 who can read. Yes, it does live up to the hype.
